ON THE ISLAND OF THE LOTUS-EATERS

Ulysses’ men post #dontwannagoback when they see the beaches on the island of the Lotus-Eaters

The gang left Troy, managed to get through a storm sent by Poseidon, had a short feast in Thrace and headed for Crete. There, they fought through another storm, which roughed them up for nine days before parking them on the island of the Lotus-Eaters.

Awesome beaches, crystal-clear waters, fresh fish, 3-Euro beers, amazing roast piglets, happy faces, refreshing cocktails; they also ate the sweet lotus fruit they had never tasted before. In other words, life was good. They forgot everything and didn’t want to leave.

Ulysses was a bit suspicious though; once bitten, twice shy as the saying goes, and he didn’t try the lotuses. When he saw that his men didn’t want to leave the island, he very democratically tied them up and took them back to the ships to save them from oblivion.
